Creating a compassionate community through referrals

Two team members working together on circuitry

We’re always looking for talented and empathetic new team members ready to start a fulfilling Duke Health career. Current team members who have already experienced our compassionate care and cutting-edge technology make the perfect ambassadors to introduce new people to the health system. With the Duke University Health System Team Member Referral Program, existing team members can refer new people to the team and earn benefits along the way – just like Roni and Uashica did.

Roni's Story

Roni Luther says joining Duke Health as a population health specialist two years ago was one of the best decisions she has ever made. The support she feels to pursue her passions and grow in her career is why she’s referred seven people to careers at Duke Health.

Ronqeiya Luther

During my time at Duke I have had the chance to meet so many great individuals and expand my care management knowledge. Duke Health is the best health system for not only patients, but team members. Duke cares about team members as a whole person.

Uashica's Story

Having worked with us in the past, Uashica knew Duke Health was where she wanted to be after relocating back to North Carolina.

Her passion and pride in a job well done might be what has led to her impressive referral record that started even before the referral program formally began. Now, Uashica credits these very referrals for creating a community of caregivers in her department with a lasting bond.

Uashica Green

Having a type of bond with everyone that you work with, it does make a difference. Their spirit brings my spirit up, you know.

Uashica Green

Clinical Technician III, Duke University Health System Clinical LaboratoriesWith Duke since 2020

When Uashica shares her experience here, she always mentions the support and mentorship she’s found. Now, she’s able to pass on that same support through the referral program as she continues to pursue higher education and grow her career.

Raquel is one of Uashica’s early referrals, although now they consider one another friends. After meeting during shifts, they started eating lunch together and eventually meeting up outside of the office. It’s this type of connection that fills their days with joy and laughter.

Raquel Dixon

I love working here! My position is a great position to grow and my managers allow for the flexibility I need to continue my education outside of my career.

The Duke University Health System Team Member Referral Program has been the catalyst for an enriched experience here, both for those who refer and those who have been referred. In Uashica and Raquel’s case, the program has not only given them access to benefits and rewards, but also fostered an enduring friendship with one another.
