In select programs, you can even start a healthcare career with no prior training — we provide the education and on-the-job learning to get you there.

Pharmacy Technican Training Program
The Pharmacy Technician Training Program at Duke Health is designed for individuals who want to gain the foundational knowledge and real-world exposure to become a certified pharmacy technician.

Program overview
  • Three cohort start dates each year (January, April, and August)
  • The program is an accelerated 10-week course that provides intensive training and hands-on experience.
  • Through a mix of online learning, simulations, and hands-on rotations at various pharmacy sites, you’ll develop essential skills in pharmacy operations and technology.
  • The program includes simulation labs and experiential rotations in clinical, operational and specialty pharmacy areas, giving you direct exposure to what pharmacy technicians do day-to-day.
  • Upon successful completion of the training program, you’ll be eligible to apply for a full-time pharmacy technician position with Duke Health.

  • No previous experience needed, all you need is a high school diploma or equivalent, and the motivation to learn.
  • Certification-ready: The program prepares you for the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam.

Imaging Apprenticeship Program
The Duke Health Imaging Apprenticeship Program offers you the opportunity to gain skills, experience, and support to excel in medical imaging. Whether you are new to healthcare or a credentialed technologist ready to expand your expertise, we offer two pathways tailored to your professional journey. Program pathways typically run 12-18 months.

Primary Pathway for those new to the medical field. 
This pathway is designed for students already enrolled or signing up for an imaging program.
  • No prior imaging experience is needed, just a passion for healthcare and learning.
  • The program immerses you in comprehensive didactic and clinical training with supportive mentorship to advance your skills.
  • Clear milestones and promotional opportunities as you progress through your apprenticeship and your college program. 

Post-Primary Pathway for credentialed technologists.
This pathway is designed for certified imaging professionals that want to expand their expertise and seek specialized training in a second imaging discipline and explore opportunities for career mobility.
  • Must hold an active credential in an imaging modality.
  • Specialized didactice instruction in your chosen second modality 
  • Hands-on application with state-of-the-art imaging technology

Radiation Therapy Certification Program
If you’re ready to step into a critical allied-health role with advanced technical responsibility, the Radiation Therapy Certificate Program at Duke Health provides a focused, full-time 12-month pathway to become an entry-level radiation therapist. 

Program overview
  • A 12-month, certificate-granting program designed to prepare graduates for licensure as radiation therapists and an entry-level position within the radiation oncology team.
  • Curriculum aligned with the standards of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and developed to meet the high-quality practice expectations of the Duke Department of Radiation Oncology. 
  • Combines technical, clinical and critical-thinking skills so you’ll be ready to perform simulation, imaging, treatment delivery, positioning, and document accurately.
  • Graduates will receive a certificate and be prepared to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam and begin their career as a licensed radiation therapist.

Applications for the 2026 class are open through Decemember 31, 2025. 

Other important dates and eligibility requirements
  • Interviews will be scheduled February-March 2026
  • Notifications of acceptance will be issues in late March 2026
  • Candidates must be a registered radiographer with at least an associate's degree by July 1, 2026
