Incentives and benefits designed for you
Commitment Bonuses: Experienced registered nurses are eligible for a commitment bonus of up to $15,000 in select units.
Relocation Assistance: Up to $8,000 in relocation assistance is available to help experienced registered nurses with moving costs, if living 50 or more miles away from a Duke University Health System facility. Up to $3,000 in relocation assistance for new graduate nurses. Team members using the program also get access to a dedicated relocation website that let's them research the area attractions, services, and neighborhoods.
Tuition Assistance: All team members at Duke Health can receive reimbursement of tuition for up to three classes per semester (limit nine per calendar year). Up to $5,250 per calendar year is covered after six months of full-time employment.
In addition, nurses can take advantage of the RN Tuition Assistance Program, which contributes up to 90% of Duke University School of Nursing tuition for select master's degree, post master's degree certificates, or a doctorate of nursing practice degree. This benefit is available after three years of full-time employment.
Nurse Loan Forgiveness: Eligible nurses who work in Duke hospitals and associated ambulatory clinics, procedural areas, Duke HomeCare & Hospice, and Duke Primary Care can receive up to $25,000 for outstanding student loans for pre-licensure nursing education.
Nurse Loan Forgiveness for Watts College of Nursing Students: Watts College of Nursing students who commit to a nursing role at Duke Health may qualify to have their tuition loans forgiven for up to two semesters. One year of full-time Duke Health employment is required for each semester of loan forgiveness.
Shift Premiums: Shift Premiums: Nurses who work nights and weekends in inpatient units are eligible.
Nurse Residency Program: Every new graduate nurse who joins us is automatically enrolled in the 12-month paid Nurse Residency Program that mixes both foundational and specialty education in 13 tracks. With guidance from dedicated nurse educators, participants gain hands-on training and didactic instruction that strengthens clinical skills, reinforces decision-making, and promotes confidence at the bedside all while forming lasting professional relationships.
Friends of Nursing Program: A recognition program that awards 38 nurses $1,000 toward nursing education, professional development, and conference presentations. Friends of Nursing also presents Nursing Grand Rounds for continuing education to improve patient care.
Nursing Career Ladder: This program helps advance team members' nursing careers with promotion up to level IV.
Continuing Education Credits: All new graduate and experienced nurses are supported by Duke Health in their pursuit of learning with a free HealthStream account. This offers asynchronous courses that provide RNs the opportunity to advance their knowledge in a topic of interest to them/their practice while earning continuing education (CE) credits.
Certification Bonus: Nurses can receive $1,000 for initial certification and $750 for renewal. Leaders can elaborate on qualifying certifications for their units.
Team Member Referral Program: Team members can receive monetary bonuses and prizes for referring prospective team members to Duke Health.
