JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Neurosurgery Department Clinical Manager (Administrative Manager) to plan, direct, and oversee the clinical mission for the Department of Neurosurgery under the guidance and direction of the Chief Administrative Officer.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Department Chair, CAO, and physician leaders on opportunities to expand services into the community including working with network services to develop new referral streams and to work with existing referring offices to ensure continued referrals. Actively engaged in leading business development activities including participating in the design and production of marketing materials, working with Department communications director and DUHS marketing on promotional campaigns.
- Monitor clinic and OR utilization and make recommendations on how to optimize space and time allotted to department. Responsible for setting up clinic and operating room schedules
- Support development of annual departmental operating budget and provide forecasts to departmental leadership on monthly basis with highlights in areas needed for improvement. Perform analysis of financial information, reporting trends and patterns; prepare corrective action plan as necessary. Proactively monitor, analyze and manage reports and all related documents. Ensure department is meeting all balanced scorecard targets.
- Work collaboratively with all levels of Duke Administration, service line leaders, physicians, PRMO, DHTS, marketing, communications, outside organizations to coordinate the business relationship and meet DUHS/DHIP goals and objectives
- Work closely with the Vice Chair of Quality to provide reports necessary to inform faculty and leadership of opportunities for improvement and growth.
- Ensure the department is integrated with other departmental areas within the DHIP. Work with leadership teams throughout the health system, serving as a resource to help reduce costs, enhance revenues, achieve effective utilization and quality goals and objectives, analyze and utilize information to develop and support management decisions.
- May be responsible for managing physician contracts, developing proformas for recruiting, helping develop clinical compensation plans, and monitoring all clinical contracts
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree required.
Work requires seven years of progressive administrative experience, generally in a hospital, health care or similar service industry to become proficient in managing quality of care and financial performance over assigned hospital service line.
A Master's degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration or a related field may be substituted for experience on a 1:1 basis.
JOB HOURS
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no holidays.
