Duke Life Flight is Duke Health's critical care and emergency air and ground transport team, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS). With 125 team members, including paramedics, nurses, respiratory therapists, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), and communications specialists, the team works quickly to provide compassionate care and transport services to critically ill patients of all ages, while utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, in partnership with Metro Aviation.

Duke Life Flight's air and ground transport teams utilize dedicated bases across the Triangle, including in Durham, Henderson, and Smithfield, NC. When not conducting a transport, team members can utilize these bases to train, study, work on departmental projects, and relax.

Duke Life Flight offers continuing education courses, semi-annual classes focused on maintaining skills, and other didactic offerings for all team members.

Simulation Lab

Team members can utilize Duke Life Flight's dedicated simulation lab, which houses state-of-the-art equipment and patient simulators. The simulation lab is used to help new team members train for their transition to the team after orientation and for ongoing skill growth and validation for the entire team.
