General Description of the Job Class
Perform work under the supervision of a registered nurse, the patient attendant safety aide maintains constant direct observation and visualization of identified patient(s).
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Constant and direct observation of the patient.
Monitoring changes in the patient's physical, emotional, and mental condition. Communicate the status of the patient, including any changes. Observing and reporting patients' behavioral changes.
Document observation in electronic health record.
Support staff with ambulation and mobilization of patients.
Support staff with personal hygiene: bathing, oral hygiene, nail care, and grooming. Support staff with repositioning, feeding, and toileting.
Other duties as assigned:
Personal Protective Equipment Observer: Assist with applying and removing of clinical outerwear of health care professionals.
Screener: Assist with wellness screening of employees upon arrival to the hospital.
Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Work requires completion of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Work generally requires six months of experience in the hospital setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Understands basic first aid and CPR, and is capable of administering them if need be. Demonstrates a personal interest in the health and well-being of others. Is willing to place the needs of others first. Has the ability to work without supervision. Is able to maintain patient confidentiality. Possesses good time management skills. Has good physical strength and stamina.
