Application Analyst - Duke Health Technology Solutions - Durham
The Application Analyst will be responsible for supporting the implementation of a new application, supporting existing applications, and integrating information technology in the healthcare setting. This position will serve as a liaison between the IT department and stakeholders to align application results with operational processes.
This position is accountable for generating and preparing analytical reports, performing data analysis, transaction trending, and providing Ad hoc data in a timely and accurate manner.
Role and Responsibilities
- Function as Liaison with PRMO, Vendors, and Payers
- Prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
- Assists in making oral and written presentations to your peers, customers, and management.
- Participates in planning and providing customer training sessions on system use or revisions.
- Work with the Service Desk Manager to ensure smooth communication and escalation flow during major outages.
- Interprets and analyzes systems, data, and information with Management.
- Monitor the performance of staff responsible for claim submission and Payer setup.
- Participate in meetings with potential and existing clients to discuss new business opportunities.
- Provide training assistance for users, the applications programming team, and other staff.
- Implements applications, tools, processes, and structures that assist end users with the management of data in their business unit.
- Analyze and interpret project needs.
- Participate in meetings with potential and existing clients to discuss new business opportunities.
- Initiate, establish, and maintain business relationships with all stakeholders of the project.
- Conducting project-learning reviews, identifying, and sharing best practices across the organization/department.Seek and apply best practices from other organizations.
- Help coordinate projects and play a key role in the setup of new processes and/or systems.
- Provides systems support, including troubleshooting and the configuration and testing of software.
- Updates system, operational and department documentation.
- Prepare and present status reports, ad hoc reports, records, and training material to customers and management.
- Organize and conduct conference calls and prepare documents based on status meetings.
- Provide on-call coverage support as directed by the Manager.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain efficiency, consistency and achieve successful implementation of an application.
- Supports the development of briefings, agendas, and other general documentation support as directed, including training material and demonstration sessions for new and existing technologies to various Duke stakeholders
- Support a continuous improvement process by providing recommendations on improving products, services, and processes
- Develops communication plans
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field, or four years of equivalent technical experience.
Or
5 years related field or equivalent work experience preferred; 2+ years experience with Healthcare preferred
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Microsoft Windows OS
- Working knowledge of ANSI x12 Standards
- Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements
- Communicating technical problems and solutions to non-technical users and stakeholders
- Problem-solving and reporting skills
- Project management skills for design and development
- The ability to construct and work to deadlines
- Knowledge of project management to manage deliverables

- Demonstrate an understanding of the need for the discretion of all confidential and EPHI (Electronic Protected Health Information) HIPAA regulations.

Licensure / Certification
ITIL Certification preferred not required, training available.
