JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a Payroll & Onboarding Specialist to support the efficient administration of employee onboarding and payroll.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate certain routine HR and payroll functions including time and attendance, new hire/onboarding processing, and pay adjustments.
- Perform complex payroll duties involved in the preparation and processing of Duke payrolls. Ensure managers complete payroll responsibilities by established deadlines and in accordance with attendance policies. Complete all payroll related forms including gross adjustments, blue cards, leaves of absence, etc.
- Interpret Duke HR and Payroll policies and procedures, as well as entity and departmental procedures. Consult with managers, providing guidance and education on appropriate compliance.
- Answer tier 1 calls related to payroll and onboarding and appropriately escalate calls to other team members and departments.
- Liaise with Duke Corporate Payroll and Time & Attendance teams to resolve payroll or benefit balance discrepancies or concerns.
- Perform onboarding duties such as creation of electronic employee files and provide employee account access.
- Communicate with the hiring manager to ensure all necessary documents have been obtained prior to the new hire start date.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Work requires knowledge of basic communications, research and mathematical principles normally acquired through a high school education.
Work requires the ability to review, maintain, research, and report on human resource and payroll information/activities generally acquired through five years of related experience.
Work requires at least 2 years of experience in an administrative/customer-centric role.
Payroll and/or HR administrative support experience desired.
- Experience with SAP Payroll and Centricity/API Time & Attendance or comparable platforms is preferred.
- OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
JOB HOURS
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
