Evolving a lifelong passion for patient care: Prasanth’s story

Ever since he was a boy in India, Prasanth was eager to help others. In particular, he was fascinated by the idea of helping other people maintain their health.

This interest persisted when he moved to the US, where he followed his calling to care by joining the health care field. And, in 2023, Prasanth joined Duke Health as a certified medical assistant (CMA).

Contributing to the well-being of others in a place where he can continuously learn is exactly what Prasanth had envisioned in his youth. Having a team at Duke Health that matches his passion and dedication makes his career even more rewarding.

“Being part of a health care team that collaborates to improve patient outcomes gives me a strong sense of purpose and accomplishment,” Prasanth said. “My time at Duke Health has been both professionally fulfilling and personally rewarding, providing me with the tools and support to make a meaningful impact in health care. I keep engaged and continuously learning, which is incredibly fulfilling.”

As he’s progressed his career, Prasanth has sought out additional credentials. Luckily, he’s had supportive teams and leaders while completing his EKG certification, AMT test, and the state EMT exam. Prasanth also credits Duke’s Career Ladder with helping him navigate his professional journey.

His career growth here has even taken him to the national stage – representing the state of North Carolina at the American Medical Technologists conference this year.

“It meant a great deal to me both personally and professionally,” he said of the conference. “I participated in various sessions and I’m excited to bring back and share with my colleagues and patients here.”
