JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a FinancialAnalyst III to join our Health System Capital and Financial Analysis team located in Durham, NC. In this position you willdevelop and maintain models that will calculate physician incentives and accruals. This person will become a subject matter expert on the various department compensation plans, validating ongoing physician compensation change requests, and benchmarking offers for new physicians.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyst will primarily support Duke’s Ambulatory operations and imaging including but not limited to working on projects with the following entities: Duke Health Integrated Practice, Duke Primary Care, Duke University Hospital, Duke Raleigh Hospital, Duke Regional Hospital and future sites as they come online.  The project work for the Ambulatory and Imaging finance teams often fast-paced, high profile, extremely fluid and non-recurrent, affording the right candidate the opportunity to grow in new ways with each project, to experience many areas of the Health System and to frequently collaborate outside of the finance department.
  • Recurrent tasks associated with this analyst position include planning, developing,  and coordinating the preparation of recurrent and ad hoc financial analyses and reports including, but not limited to, operational and capital budgets, financial statements, profitability analyses, statistical reports, cost analyses, margin improvement opportunities and other ad hoc reports necessary to support the operational, financial and strategic priorities of the Health System.
  • In addition to the recurrent work, this analyst position will frequently include non-recurrent, ad hoc requests including, but not limited to preparation, review, presentation and reporting for specific projects and/or departmental financial matters which may include analyses of financial position, cash flows, specific general ledger accounts or departments, budgets, budget requests and capital assessments. 
  • Position is expected to liaison and collaborate closely with operational leadership, entity finance, Health System strategic leadership and other key stakeholders on project work.  Projects generally involve a unique group of stakeholders, affording the analyst the opportunity to work with many different departments, divisions and areas of the Health System.
  • Analyst may also be involved in other financial reporting, as needed, for Health System senior leadership, operational leadership, general accounting and external agencies, potentially inclusive of opportunities to work on financial projections included in NC DHHS Certificate of Need filings, commensurate on skill level and experience. 
  • As the Health System implements new systems, the Ambulatory and Imaging teams are considered key stakeholders.  Analyst may have opportunities to participate in the development, implementation and management of those financial systems, budgeting systems, capital systems, cost accounting systems and/or financial policies and procedures as appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field. CPA is desirable.
  • Six years of experience in financial management, cost accounting or a field directly related to specialized area of assignment.

JOB HOURS:

This is a hybrid a position Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
