JOB SUMMARY
The Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Coordinator is responsible for all matters related to and concerning DME within the clinic. Including, but not limited to, fitting, refitting, custom measurement, patient education, financial counseling, prior authorization, and patient satisfaction. Acts as a liaison between staff, physicians, and leadership.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs all facets of the patient DME encounter in clinic. Properly measures patient and chooses correctly prescribed brace from available inventory. Demonstrates proper application and use of products and conveys this clearly to the patient.
- Based on knowledge of products in office inventory, suggests products based on provider’s goals for patient treatment. This includes all office inventory of ‘off-the-shelf’ products and available custom fabricated products. Follows up with patient for delivery and necessary troubleshooting.
- Explains insurance billing or cash collection process to a patient during encounter.
- Reviews DME WQs claims for assigned site to verify claims are clean and all documentation meets guidelines. Obtain patient’s benefits and accurately interprets them to provide meaningful financial information for patient encounter. Initiates and completes prior authorization process when necessary. Brings outstanding issues to providers, local site leadership and DME Program Manager’s attention.
- Tracks, reviews, trends and reports DME program metrics, expenses, revenue, profit, shrinkage, denial trends to leadership.
- Maintains an accurate site inventory by reviewing inventory PAR levels and leakage, orders stock, and stocks received inventory.
- Trains and provides oversight at different locations to verify products are being applied to patients within manufacturer and safety guidelines.
- Forwards all invoices to the HCA for payment once confirmation of product is received.
- Follows up with any patient questions/concerns about DME products and billing issues.
- Reviews products, introduces them to faculty, and follows process to add them to Epic preference list and educate staff.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

JOB HOURS
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
