Transplant (Cell Therapy) Coordinator – Duke University Hospital

Duke University Health System- Duke University Hospital seeks to hire an experienced Transplant (Cell Therapy) Coordinator who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together.

Department Profile:


The Department of Hematologic Malignancies & Cellular Therapy (HMCT) at Duke University Hospital is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient to ensure an excellent patient experience, every time.

This role is focused on commercial cellular therapies, specifically CAR-T (Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cells) and TIL (Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes) products. These are novel therapies; the first commercially available CAR-T was released in 2018. It is a rapidly expanding field in Oncology that requires extensive coordination, communication skills, and an entrepreneurial attitude to help mold a successful care program. The expectations of this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Educate patients and families regarding all aspects of cell therapy care, including but not limited to, arranging follow up appointments, labs, and working with the multidisciplinary team on patient specific needs
  • Work closely with all HMCT faculty and staff, providing a source of truth for all commercial CAR-T products, patients, and data
  • Communicate with patients and caregivers regarding the plan of care and ongoing changes.
  • Provide consistent alignment & communication with pharmaceutical vendors
  • Keep track of all patient-related care data, including visits, quality information, outcomes, etc.
  • Provide for continuity of care between inpatient care, outpatient care, and long-term management. 
  • Ability to make clinical judgements based upon synthesis of current research, concepts, principles, theories, and outcomes to solve complex problems.
  • Collaborate with medical faculty, pharmacy, nursing personnel, case management and other health disciplines to facilitate meeting patient and family needs.
  • Complete regulatory documentation for FACT and REMS training
  • Reviewing education materials and working with department if there are changes in current practice.

The transplant coordinator is an integral member of a larger interdisciplinary team contributing to excellence in patient care, research, and teaching and in providing leadership in the organization.

Education
RN, BSN required; MSN preferred


Experience

Minimum Requirement: 2 years clinical nursing experience

Preferred: 2 years nursing experience in hematologic malignancies, blood & marrow transplant, and/or cellular therapies


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina required. BLS required.
